Convenience – For anyone that is home-bound or for very busy people.
Cost – More cost effective than an in-lab sleep center test
Insurance – Generally more likely to cover in-home sleep testing. (You will need to check with your insurance plan.)
Accuracy – High rate of precision when diagnosing the existence and severity of sleep apnea and other sleep disorders
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN IN-HOME SLEEP TEST
In-Office Consult & Demo
The first step is to make an appointment with our office.
At your appointment, Dr. Shirazi will have a brief consultation with you. Our team will go over the specifics of how to use the home sleep study and answer any questions you may have plus collect payment.
Wear In Your Own Bed for 1 Night
The sleep test is done in your own bed, in your own home, and it records data during 1 night of sleep.
You will wear a nasal canula, an effort belt that is secured comfortably around their chest and also a pulse oximeter. Most patients find all of these items comfortable to sleep with and easy to use and setup.
Drop Device Back to Us
Once you are done with the test you can simply return the equipment back to our office the next day during business hours or mail it via “Overnight”.
Our office hours are:
8:30am-5:30pm Mon-Wed in Thousand Oaks
9:00am-5:00pm Thu in Los Angeles
Closed Fri-Sun
Lab Processing
After the equipment is dropped off, the sleep lab will download the data to be sent for interpretation.
Our sleep physician takes anywhere from 2-3 weeks on average to review the data. Once the data has been interpreted you will receive a phone call from the sleep lab to discuss the findings.
